What to Expect

Our staff will review your insurance and all necessary paperwork. If it has not already been obtained, we will work with you to get appropriate documentation and preapproval from your child's doctor and insurance carrier.

Discuss the goals for your child and perform an evaluation of their needs. For example, if your child requires AFOs, Ken will give recommendations for what specific AFO will best fit their needs and help them achieve their goals.

Depending on the child, they might require a variety of different devices. Especially with limb loss, they could require a different prosthetic for running, swimming, or throwing.

A scan or cast will be taken to begin the fabrication of their device. They also get to pick out the color or design they want on it! We’ve done everything, superheroes, florals, sports teams, and more.

Developing children require frequent follow-up appointments to ensure that their prosthetics or orthotic devices are growing with them and allowing them to move freely and comfortably.

Follow-up appointments are free. If you have questions or concerns about your child's device, simply contact us or see us in person. We look forward to seeing you.

We form a collaborative team with you, your child’s doctor, and their therapists to ensure they have everything they need to flourish.

The goal of orthotics and prosthetics is to let you be as active as possible. If your device is slowing you down, please call us so we can work together to get you moving to the best of your ability.

What People Are Saying

  • Carter's Testimony

Carter has been seeing Ken at Family O&P for many many years. Ken listens to us and fixes problem areas on Carter's AFOs. He helps us find solutions when problems arise. Ken also travels to an outpatient clinic in O'Neill, which makes less travel time for us and Carter misses less school. We hope Ken doesn't plan to ever retire!

When Carter had surgery on his legs, Ken and his team went above and beyond to get Carter's new AFOs to us in a hurry before he went to inpatient rehab. We were so grateful for their extra help. It truly takes a village to raise kids with a disability and Family O&P is part of our "village".
